Space – the final frontier…
Nope, not that kind of space. Not yet anyway. The kind of space where you can put your foot down and not trip over a toy.
Me and my wife got an apartment a few years ago when it was just the 2 of us. Two rooms and one big kitchen. Because she likes to cook. And I don’t. That often. But when I do…
It was good enough for us and close to the center of the city. Then our child decided to join us and everything changed. Every tiny little space was filled and rearranged to hold stuff I didn’t even know we needed.
Then we started working from home. While also raising a toddler. And this is how madness begins.
Now we could get a bigger apartment while still being close to city life. This would be the easier solution. Or get a house a few km away. I know a house is expensive and requires a lot of maintenance. But I guess that would be the only alternative where I could get a man cave working. Or a bat cave.
I’m sure others have been through this. What would you choose and why?
If you get a chance, check out my book:
Side by side is a book about the first years of parenting. Both the beauty and the hidden side of parenting. The long nights and troubled days. Parents who try and fail and then try again. And how your little one puts a smile on your face and you forget everything just in time to start a new challenging day. It follows the first 2 years of a new dad and his journey, side by side, along with his son.
Hey man. I loved the way you put that story so much I had to comment. I have a 3 year old and I’m discovering new things we need everyday. Thank you for this post. 👌🏾❤️

Greetings from Brisbane Australia. I have two grown up sons and a Grand Ma now. Well it has to be what works the best way according to your needs which I am not fully aware. Your wife is not working, but working from home so no travelling. But wants a Big kitchen . You must be getting nice food at home 🙂
According to your work Is the space at home or the travelling that is more of a issue? You have to consider what works best for all three’s need as best as possible. Have I given enough questions to ask yourselves?
Best of Luck. We all learn as we move along 🙂
